All of the nail Polish shades in the TALYAH London collection that are ablution (wudhu) friendly (i.e. Halal حلال) have been tested to verify water permeability (also known as breathable/O2M).
‘what does water permeable mean’ and ‘how does that make it halal’?
Let’s begin by clarifying what the actual word PERMEABLE means and why does this make TALYAH London nail polish range halal.
Firstly, the definition of Permeable: (of a material or membrane) allowing liquids or gases to pass through it.
This means for it to be classified as ‘Water Permeable’ the water MUST go through the nail polish to reach the surface of your nails. If this is not the case, then it is NOT water permeable and therefore is not Halal (wudhu friendly).
Although some products claim their nail polish is Halal, our tests have demonstrated otherwise. Even though the water has not passed through their nail polish, the claims suggest that you will need to rub the water over the nail polish repeatedly for 30secs or more on each individual nail, which we know is not realistic when making ablution (Wudhu). As this would require a minimum of 10mins to perform ablution on all your nails alone (hands and feet), in addition to the time it will take to wash your other body parts.
Because we know that it is not realistic to rub on each individual nail for minimum of 30seconds or more, our breathable nail enamel allows the water to penetrate through instantly, i.e. the water will go through to your nails without having to put 10mins aside for your nails alone each time you perform ablution.
All the shades available in this range have no harsh chemicals or alcohol in them, which also means you won’t need to use harsh nail polish removing chemicals anymore as this range allows you to peel away, saving you time and money on other products. In addition, we do not have any pig extract pigments, and are not animal tested. Because we believe in beauty without the need for animal cruelty.
Note** Not all halal nail polishes available in the market are wudhu friendly. So some might not contain animal pigments or alcohol in the ingredients, however, they do not all let water penetrate through, i.e. you cannot perform wudhu (ablution) and perform prayer whilst you have the nail polish applied to your nails. However, with TALYAH LONDON Halal Nail Polish range, the water permeability means you do not need to remove the nail polish to perform wudhu and prayer.
